This book is awesome!!!! It’s straight to the point, has great examples, and the online videos helps my daughter when she struggles to comprehend the new material. I would definitely recommend this!
April Halleran –
I just started homeschooling my 11th grade son. Traditional classroom math was not working throughout high school. He barely made it through Algebra and Geometry. We decided to go back and lay a better foundation so he could manage college placement tests better rather than just getting by. He needs to learn rather than just pass. This book is exactly as described and speaks my sons language. The author encourages writing out the examples and steps which seems like it wouldn’t make that much of a difference but it does! We are thankful!
Christy Murphy –
Love the book so far, it’s set up well , I feel like I have learned more out of his book and videos so far than I did in school .
Brian-Rachel McBrayer –
Explains algebra simply. There’s no extra unnecessary busy work with this book. My teen is using it for 10th grade math (we homeschool) and we’re happy with it.
Michael J. –
Does this book have access to an answer key for the math problems?
Judy –
I was looking for a straightforward Algebra book to complement the book I use for my 8th grade students. This book gives a more concise way of teaching the skills, which I appreciate.
Clarissa Alderete –
So easy to learn and understand with this math book. Perfect for those struggling with math.
SJ –
This product had excellent explaining that was detailed for the student to follow. While other workbooks skip some steps, they spent the time and effort to make sure this is very worth it. The only thing I would like is more content. But overall, great product and I have no regrets.
Leah Lou –
This book explains the fundamentals well and is easy to use and follow with good practice material. Really pleased with the purchase and would recommend.
Math Customer –
This seems to be one of the only algebra books that works well for my struggling freshman. Just as the title reads, the lessons are no-nonsense and to the point. The on-line quick videos also help in case that is also needed. I home school my son, and I have always struggled in math. I wish I had this book when I was taking algebra – could have prevented a lot of nights of frustrated crying over confusing math homework.
Tanya S. –
Helped my teen for more math support
Kim –
This guide book allows homeschool parents the tools necessary to help their child work through Algebra at a great pace. Also the guide book has a key code to use online and view the videos with great explanations if needed. The workbook supplement gives additional exercises that we use for extra reinforcement. My 8th and 11th grade children are working through these two books (this guide book and the workbook) together daily. The 8th grader seeing it for the first time and the 11th grader using it as SAT review. Best way to study is to teach someone else 🙂 I am very happy with both books.
JH –
As described. Also has review of all required pre algebra material which was very helpful.
chris –
Straight forward no gimmicks make great mini lessons if you break down topics
ttb –
I ordered this book for my homeschool teen. I’m not really that good in math but he had no issues understanding each concept. It was even explained to my understanding. My only wish is that there was an algebra 2 book I believe no nonsense algebra book is the last of this series
Clear Path –
Love this textbook so far. Using it as a supplement. It includes a website with video teachings as well…. great buy!
taina l. –
Again, using in conjunction with other two books. All three have been most helpful to help me review and practice.
Math Customer –
Good book!

Annie Zhang –
This is a great tool for learning, and my daughter learned very quickly from this book.
penlight –
I have the 1st edition and without question it is excellent.
trying to figure out if the 2nd edition is worth it if you already have the first one? basically it seems the author added 14 pages of extra quizes to cover concepts from the 10 chapters. extra practice is always good, but I would highly recommend his companion workbook as well.
if you don’t have either edition, definitely buy this 2nd edition.
Math Customer –
Examples are easy to follow. Short and and concised. My daughter was able to follow on her own.
Ms.Sarah –
Very well organized book
TwinklyPuff –
It is a good book for beginning algebra and the web site is great.
Lisa –
This is a great algebra teaching tool. I bought it for my 10th grader who is struggling with algebra, and my 7th grader is sitting in and learning it too. I sit with them each day and watch the online teaching session which is excellent. We work a few problems together, then I send them off to work on the accompanying workbook that you should also get if your purchase this. So far, we haven’t had any problems, although we’ve come across one answer that is definitely wrong. We checked with a math expert and he agreed. No big deal, that happens. I just wish there was a geometry book like this. I hope the maker of this book would consider that. And if so, I hope the teacher online is the same person. He is very thorough, and makes algebra easy and pleasant.
Mary A Whittle –
I have been using this book to prepare for a college algebra course that I am required to take. It has been a long time since having to practice algebra and this book is straightforward, easy to understand and makes the job of learning fun and rather easy. I have just started the college course and it has been nothing short of amazing how much I had learned and how I have been able to move through the course with intact basic understanding. I will continue to use the book to reinforce the lessons being taught in the class.
Robin –
I have 12 math-minded children and have been homeschooling for over 30 years. This is the first Math curriculum that I am truly thrilled about! Here is why:
· It’s concisely Math—not just an English lesson disguised as Math.
· Chapter reviews—can double as placement tests.
· Lessons are short—containing 1 video & 1-2 pages of work.
· Lessons are balanced—including review, drill, practice, & application.
· Word problems are traditional—teaching real life, not agendas.
· Layout is simplistic—in black & white with no distractions.
My kids love this Math! They work ahead and do it independently.
(Review by Robin Stickle)
Corene W –
As a homeschool mom of 3, I ran across this and used it with my youngest. I wish I’d had it for all three! It’s easy to understand and comprehensive and inexpensive. The videos are great, but the written lessons are simple enough you may not even need to watch all of them.
I’ve used several of the major homeschool math curriculums (TT, CTC, MUS, Saxon) and I prefer this simple little workbook.
Mr. Anderson –
Step by step clear instruction and supporting free videos
Nana B –
I tutor and this helps me refresh and stay ready for my students. Easy to understand. Great video lessons on line to go with it.
Bulent Dorttepe –
if you need to study extra Algebra, this should be one.
B –
Exactly what it says it is. No-Nonsense
K. Molter –
I wanted to help my grandson review his daily lessons. It follows his math class exactly. Good explanations.
Juan Valdez –
We homeschool and this has helped my daughter with her algebra immensely. It’s very instructional.
Tanya –
Exactly what we need. I homeschool my 15 yr old. She prefers textbooks & workbooks. We love that this textbook is straightforward and simple, no complicatedinstructin or busywork. There’s a page of simple instruction and a few examples. Then you do the practice problems, usually no more than 20. We also bought the workbook for when the practice problems are not enough, though we’ve only had to use it a few times.
Kasey M –
Great book, staightforward problems. Worth the bigger price tag.
Bethel999 –
Helped my son at least a couple of times when he was stuck on concepts, so i didn’t have to try to tackle the math! Would buy it again.
amdalbert –
We have used this series with my son for 3 yrs (homeschooling family) and it works well with his style of learning – stripped down, no fuss, no cartoons, no endless pages of text. My son appreciates the brief video that accompanies each lesson. After YEARS of trying different math programs, THIS is the series that causes no complaints and is showing real results. My son plans on either entering the Navy or a skilled trade after graduation and this book is providing him solid enough computational skills to test well on both the ASVAB and trade school entry tests.
To make the book a bit easier to use for us, I removed the text from its spine and put it in a 3-Ring binder. I laminated the reference pages (which are tremendously helpful pages!). Lastly, I integrated the practice book into the binder and removed the answer section for just the practice book. This allows my son to have the answers while he works the problems in the main book and then I grade the “practice” pages. Using a binder also allows my son to keep his worked out problems with lessons so that he can reference his own work when needed. I offer this information to those who buy this book and then realize that the book doesn’t have perforated pages (which would be my only recommended improvement) and doesn’t lay flat for easy use.
Anyway, I highly recommend this book, and this series!
Customer –
This book is absolutely perfect for learning, or re-learning, algebra. I couldn’t be happier with it. For the most part the book is all I need but if I do have questions, I just refer to the associated videos for more instruction. I think the book is really well done. It gets right to the point, no rambling. I am very happy with it. Highly recommend! I also got the accompanying exercise book.
May –
The book gives detailed direction that won’t confuse you and encourages writing down equations so you can see how they’re solved. I’ve struggled with math but this time it wasn’t so bad!
Crislynn –
For someone who is lousy at math and needs simple directions, this is the best book! I use this book to also help my daughter with her homework when she is needing extra support.
Math Customer –
This book series is excellent! I have been stuck in a rut with algebra for a few years, avoiding it really, because I simply could not grasp the concepts as presented in other books. I am in college right now and just need an algebra class to graduate. When I have a problem area, I go to this book and look up the video lesson. I watch the lesson and DO THE WORK WITH THE VIDEO! (You have to write it out). Then, go do the exercises in the book! Once I understand the principle of how to do the particular problem, I go to the book and do the practice exercises. Then go back to my college class! This book will help you if you are willing to write out the problems as you go through them in the videos, and then do all of the practice problems. My advice, if you are having problems, get this book and give it a try. I simply don’t understand the one star reviews??? If you don’t do the work, you won’t understand it no matter what book you use!Good luck and don’t let math keep you from graduating college!!!
Jenny –
The book arrived in like new condition. Some slight scuffing on the cover, but as a paperback, that isn’t a concern. The first video lesson online is about 9 minutes long and the lessons in the book are clear to understand. Another bonus is that the answers are in the back of the book, not just the odd exercises, all of them. Very pleased with this seller.
Amanda Gillard –
This series of mathbooks is perfect for the struggling learner. They are well balanced with review problems, drills, and new material practice.
Jordan Casale –
Working with kid on algebra, got a different book that had so many typos we were getting frustrated every day!
This one is understandable, and without any incorrect problems!
Chisoma Diji –
ITS SO HELPFUL OMG I LOVE IT
Anthony Stone –
We homeschool a high schooler and got the set. Really good investment. He’s been easily catching on.
Robert G Rivera Jr –
Many diverse topics with good examples and explanations. Not overkill. If you ever, stand a chance of learning Algebra, this is it. Otherwise, don’t bother. Excellent book.
carolc84 –
This book was extraordinarily helpful to me. I have been out of college for a decade and went to study for the GRE exam only to realize that I had forgotten much of my algebra that I had learned in earlier years. This was a great and simple refresher on algebra and basic mathematical principles. It was simple and easy to understand with, as the title suggests, no nonsense. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a good algebra refresher.
S. Hepler –
This workbook is fantastic. It’s clear format is easy to understand and the practice problems are just the right amount.
Chris scherer –
Great book, although it should add more example problems for more complex questions. It will explain how to relatively solve the equations under that category, but then in the practice problems there’s complex ones your left to figure out on your own, with steps they haven’t explained.
Monika Nielson –
We needed additional practice examples and this book delivers
MB –
Another book by great teacher Richard Fisher. Love his series, teaching style and pragmatism. Homeschooling with this series takes away the apprehension of any parent. Highly recommend.
JT –
Good clear, succinct instructions. I’ve been using this to help me tutor my 8th grade son during the COVID school year and was very happy with this resource. So much easier than trying to find information on his school Chromebook!
Tonja Drecker –
I was searching for an algebra book for my homeschooled 8th grader, which simply does algebra without all sorts of nonsense on the side. Plus, I wanted video support for those days, where time is short on my side (so she can watch them herself) or simply as another way to explain things, since sometimes, a different point of view works better.
This book is exactly what I hoped for. The chapters are well laid out. Each lesson starts with a short, clear explanation before diving into the examples and problems. It starts out simple and builds in difficulty, making my daughter think beyond the simple limits. The answers are at the back of the book, and there are short quizzes for each chapter as well as a general test at the end.
I did pick up the fitting workbook for those times when she needs to practice a concept a little more before moving on.
It’s a great series to simply learn Algebra.
arthur lee –
Due to remote learning, my kids did not learn much in 7th grade math. This book allowed me to teach them what they didn’t learn and better understand what they did learn. 10 chapters with multiple sections in each chapter. We completed a chapter every week during the summer. End of section problems and final test were helpful. Answers at the end of book. Didn’t need to use any of the online resources since the book was very good.
Barry Roberts –
Simplifies things for students
TexasLife –
My son says it is very easy to understand and learn from. The connection to video lessons makes a difference.
Theodore Matthews –
I use the book for tutoring my 9th grade student. It has great review exercises and fairly challenging problems
Amanda –
I am homeschooling my 8th grade daughter, and math is my enemy! Haha! So believe me, if I can figure this book out, so can you! I had the hardest time finding a workbook that actually had an explanation of how to do the math problems, and then pages of practice problems in it as well. This book has all of it. I am able to teach the lesson to myself, and then turn right around and teach it to her. As far as the videos go…. I will be 100% honest. The guy that teaches them seems nice and everything, however, he speaks way to fast, doesn’t go into enough detail with his explanations, and doesn’t cover all of the material that needs to be covered. The good news is the book explains the math so well, that I usually don’t need a video for help. If I do, I just look up others online that are a bit more helpful. All in all it’s a wonderful book, I would recommend it to anyone homeschooling, or needing to brush up for GED stuff etc. I also have his pre algebra book, and that is wonderful as well. Much better than others we have tried! Again, great explanations. Take care!!!
River Nyx –
Quick delivery. Does give enough examples and exercises for you to practice.
Math Customer –
This book is by far the best book to either supplement in-person learning or remote/home-based learning for algebra. It lays out the concepts in easily digestible segments that build a solid foundation for the math that follows. The supplemental workbook is a great addition that contains additional problems for practice.
catherine –
I used this as a supplement to our current (6th grade) text.
The explanations that precede the problem sets are very well laid out.
My class of students appreciated the instructions w/in this book over those in their current district text.
It’s a solid resource.
Math Customer –
I’ve been out of high-school for 8 years. Out of college for 6 years. It’s been 8 years since I took a math class. I was naturally very good at math, but after 8 years I had forgotten all of the basics. It doesn’t matter how good I USED to be at math if I can’t remember the basic rules.I’m returning to college next month and will be taking math and chemistry as refresher courses for Pre-calc and General Chemistry.I’ve been doing a couple lessons every night, in the book, and I also bought the workbook to do alongside the main book.BEST DECISION I HAVE MADE to prepare myself for returning to college after years of being out of the classroom.
Kyle –
Great
Math Customer –
Great book to use in the summer for enrichment prior to taking Algebra I. It would also be a great review of Algebra I during the summer months.
Emmanuel –
The workbook itself is incredible, and thoroughly discusses everything from Integers to Quadratics ~ I highly endorse it. There are 15 exercises for each chapter, so I wouldn’t reccomend dropping another $30 on the other book in this series filled with just practice problems (unless you want to REALLY grasp Algebra). The answer key is in the back (with no explanations), and overall it is easy to follow and a must need for middle and high schoolers.
Michele Tummings –
I thought the examples, online exercises and the review questions made this book an excellent choice.
Math Customer –
This teacher gets right to the point and explains this in a very simple manner. One of the few math books I have purchased that was not loaded with mistakes. The videos online are fantastic. I was so pleased with this one I bought his other book for my youngest and she likes that book. Great resource. Plan on buying every book to get my girls through high school math without any stress.
DON BURTON –
This is a very good reference book for those just stsrting Algebra, or who have studied Algebra and need a solid reference manual.
Elena Lange –
I cannot say enough good things about this book and this author! I’m in college (in IT) but was getting ready to start a College Algebra class. Since it’s been a few decades since I last took Algebra, I bought this book as a prep. It’s dynamite! I learned a lot from the easy-to-understand instruction, hints, repetition, examples, and practice included. And what really made it for me was the access to the videos available for every lesson. This guy walks you through each lesson. It’s been just invaluable to me.
goto W –
learn math skills and excellent
Erica Latini –
I love the way this book is set up. It makes it easier for a person to learn algebra.
The way this book is written makes it a lot easier to learn algebra.
If you didn’t have a very solid foundation in high school mathematics, this book is for you!
CynA –
The boom is very good it’s really helped me out in math.
but the only issue is the answers to a lot and I mean a lot of the questions are just flat out wrong.
If you encounter that just use wolfram alpha or chatpgpt to get the correct answer.
despite that it’s a really really good book at teaching you algebra
Angela A Aspen –
It was a clear an concise math book. And the labels fit the product
Michael –
Easy to read and follow instructions. Comes with plenty of guided steps to help understand the work.
Tory –
I loved this book. Helped me refresh my memory on each subject.
Zebrababy –
The videos are an extra bonus. This book is laid out very well. My 13 year old has had no issues learning Algebra with this book.
KaraH –
I have searched through many high school workbooks trying to find one that isn’t just a workbook but also provides a guide to help learn how to do the problems. This book not only gives helpful hints, it also provides examples that break the problems down on how to solve them. It also has a website so you can watch a video tutorial to extend your understanding. You will find a glossary & answer sheet in the back of the book as well.
Harvey C. –
My 9th grader can do this math book by himself without help from me which is exactly what I wanted.
Renee Parker –
I liked this for some tougher math classes. It gave good step-by-step ways to solve equations as well as practice solving problems. This book was very helpful.
Math Customer –
I like it
Eliane –
Good book for refreshing your memory about algebra, with problems and solutions. Explanations are short in the text so it for those who studied these topics before, but we enjoyed doing the problems and checking our answers
LJp –
There may have been some errors, but I think the newest version fixed that problem. Was able to complete a year of math in one semesters time.
Jessica J. –
My son has always struggled with math due to his ADHD. Now that he’s in college he needs every bit of help that he can get, and this book has truly been helpful.
JR –
Ok
