Linear algebra now rivals or surpasses calculus in importance for people working in quantitative fields of all kinds: engineers, scientists, economists and business people. Gilbert Strang has taught linear algebra at MIT for more than 50 years and the course he developed has become a model for teaching around the world. His video lectures on MIT OpenCourseWare have been viewed over ten million times and his twelve textbooks are popular with readers worldwide. This sixth edition of Professor Strang’s most popular book, Introduction to Linear Algebra, introduces the ideas of independent columns and the rank and column space of a matrix early on for a more active start. Then the book moves directly to the classical topics of linear equations, fundamental subspaces, least squares, eigenvalues and singular values – in each case expressing the key idea as a matrix factorization. The final chapters of this edition treat optimization and learning from data: the most active application of linear algebra today. Everything is explained thoroughly in Professor Strang’s characteristic clear style. It is sure to delight and inspire the delight and inspire the next generation of learners.

The author has been a beloved and effective professor at MIT for a long time. His insights are inherently valuable from every point of view. Linear Algebra is of indispensable importance, not only for people wishing to understand calculus of several variables, but for many important courses and extensive business applications. Peter Lax has a great textbook, highly to be recommended. It’s my personal favorite. Kunze and Hoffman is a very solid book. A new student might find Prof. Strang’s book a little easier than either, without sacrificing correctness. Axler’s book has grown very popular, and there is nothing wrong with it. If I were choosing a text for a truly hard core technical audience, I’d use Lax. If I wanted to serve a wider audience, I would use Strang. I would not have left a review, except there were none when I saw the page.

Considered a very fast delivery time for intercontinental shipping, it only took 3 days instead of 1 week. Overall, the product is good enough. It was a hardcover book with a dent on the top cover.PS. The book is much thinner than the fifth edition.

Comprehensive college level text for those interested linear algebra. Author is probably the foremost expert in this field with over 60 years of teaching experience at MIT. Following along the course matter with his U Tube lectures is a must!

This is a wonderful book! It’s fun and easy to read, even better when accompanied by Prof. Strang’s lectures on MOOC MIT18.06. There are lots of exercises ranging in difficulty from applying what was just taught to deep thinking.

Hardcover book with all the knowledge, i would say the price is a bit high, i got it for 1000 rupees in India but the book is the best book to learn linear algebra & in 6th edition they have added some stuffs which are related to machine learning such as tensors so yeah.I had a 4th edition but still I bought it cause this book has everything a person needs to learn linear algebra & also how to use your knowledge in machine learningThe book has 440 pages which is less than the 5th edition (600 pages) that is because some contents are shifted to online website & the link is given inside the book so students are all setIf you want the latest things then go for this edition & if you don’t want latest info & also don’t wanna go to some website to check 3 to 4 topics then go for the 5th editionBut i personally would prefer 6th edition cause this contains all the latest info & also latest is always better to haveWorth for money & highly recommended to students who wanna learn linear algebra & machine learning
